An avid Axie Infinity fan discovered five new land tokens in the ecosystem ahead of the official announcement!
“Engineer by day, Web3 explorer by night.” That is how @JDHyper describes himself. After his exciting discovery, he has every right to! As he was combing through the Ronin data records, he found five new tokens tucked in in the Axie Infinity land item contract.

About Axie Infinity’s New Land Tokens
@JDHyper immediately shared his findings on Crypto Twitter. He said, “A little over 14hrs ago, five new token types were added to the Land Item Contract. In plain sight, you can see the data for these…and it’s AMAZING.”
Eager to find more, Josh deep-dived into the contract and found the names of the new tokens in the ecosystem. He concluded, “in all, we have Tiger Plushie, Lucky Lantern, Blossom Tree, Traditional Snack Box, and Assorted Firecrackers as newly created Land Items.”
What’s even more interesting is that the devs tagged all tokens under LNY1-5. The NFT community quickly pitched in to solve the mystery. The leading theory now is that the play-to-earn giant is planning to celebrate the Lunar New Year with a bang!
So far, the top clue is that 2022 is the year of the tiger aka plushie. Similarly, the other four tokens are all related to the Lunar New Year celebration. Axie fans are hoping that this means they will have a chance to acquire new items for their in-game real estate. If not, maybe the tokens come with new utility or exclusive benefits!
Last year, Axie Infinity had a stellar year set new records after surpassing $3 billion in all-time sales. However, the AXS’ price has been tumbling down. The price declined by 20.2% over the last 30 days. So this Lunar year initiative is very timely!
