Professional basketball player and unofficial US Peace Ambassador to North Korea Dennis Rodman has just joined My Pet Hooligan. My Pet Hooligan announced this news via Dennis Rodman’s official Twitter account.
Another tweet posted by My Pet Hooligan followed Rodman’s announcement tweet. This second tweet, posted on December 21st, includes a video welcoming Dennis Rodman to the game and thanking him for defending Web3 against the forces of “Meta-Zuck-bot” – a witty reference to Facebook’s rebrand.
What’s My Pet Hooligan?
My Pet Hooligan is a desktop PvP video game built in Unreal Engine 5.0. The project is being led by Pixar, ILM & Unreal alumni. What’s interesting about this game is that it takes place in the project’s ever-expanding metaverse, dubbed The Rabbit Hole.
My Pet Hooligan dropped an NFT collection of 8888 Pet Hooligans on December 14th. In addition to being a unique collectable, each NFT serves as a playable character in The Rabbit Hole. NFT holders can start using their playable characters once the beta version of The Rabbit Hole is launched in Q1 of 2022.
The popularity of NFTs amongst sportspeople
Dennis Rodman joins a long list of sportspeople who have joined the NFT space.
Former NBA player Jay Williams recently expressed his interest in NFTs via Twitter. The late Kobe Bryant’s team have recently dropped the Kobe Bryant NFT Collection, consisting of 10,000 NFTs. In addition to Jay Williams and Kobe Bryant, NBA superstar Steph Curry has also joined the NFT by announcing a surprise NFT drop over Christmas.
By joining My Pet Hooligan, Dennis Rodman is dipping his toes into the NFT space. What’s more – he’s also letting the world know that he’s a bonafide NFT fan.
