Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is joining the NFT world!
One of the world’s most popular multiplayer mobile games with over 100 million monthly active players is dropping its first-ever NFT Collection. Starting tomorrow, January 19, fans and players can purchase MLBB: The Aspirants Mystery Box by publisher NFKings on Binance NFT.
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’s Maiden NFT Collection
MLBB’s Mystery Box contains NFT items based on characters from the popular MOBA game. It features Layla and Fanny and contains 12 unique mystery boxes of 4 different grades, each containing a digital figurine and exclusive animations of the character. In addition, each mystery box also comes with a chance to win great in-game prizes.
A total of 25,000 mystery boxes for 25 BUSD each or $25 will be up for grabs. The team reserved 300 boxes for community airdrops. Meanwhile, users can only purchase a maximum of 100 boxes to encourage fair distribution.
Meanwhile, the NFT market is off to a good start in 2022. OpenSea recorded $3.4 Billion in trading volume in just 15 days this January making it the best performing month for NFTs. So we can certainly look forward to more exciting drops in the coming days and months. Just like how Mobile Legends jumped into NFTs for the first time, we’ll see more first-timers in the space.
About the Game
Released in 2016, the game grew in popularity worldwide, most prominently in Southeast Asia. Last year, it recorded an all-time gross of $1 billion. 44% of its revenue emanated from the Asian Market so it is one of the top mobile games of its genre with the most global appeal. With over 1 Billion downloads, it can push the adoption of NFTs in Asia.
At its core, the game pits 2 teams of 5 against each other in real-time with at least 10-second matchmaking and 10-minute matches. Featuring traditional battle arena gameplay, players must fight over three lanes to take the enemy’s tower and defend their own. Like classic MOBAs, there is no hero training to level up or pay to play angle – winners and losers are decided based on skill, ability, and strategy.
The game is free-to-play and is only monetized through in-game purchases like characters and skins. Each player can control a selectable character, called “Hero”, with unique abilities and traits. There are 6 roles that define the main purpose of heroes: “Tank”, “Marksman”, “Assassin”, “Fighter”, “Mage”, and “Support”. These roles determine the responsibilities of players for their respective teams. Players can also set specific builds for heroes which include in-game items and emblems.
What really pushed the phenomenal growth and popularity of the game is its entry into the eSports scene. The game’s publisher, Moonton, created several regional tournaments dubbed as Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL). So far, a total of 15 countries including Japan, Russia, Turkey, and United States have participated in the World Championships.
