NFT industry giants Animoca Brands and Brinc are joining forces to launch a $30 Million Guild Accelerator Program. The partners are looking to build and grow the play-to-earn (P2E) guild ecosystem globally. The massive investment capital in the program proves that the partners are bullish on the gaming model that took 2021 by storm.
Before we get into the details of the program, let’s recap the role of guilds in gaming ecosystems. Basically, guilds support the player base of play-to-earn games by purchasing gaming assets and loaning them. It allows players who might not have the means to buy premium NFTs to play the game. By playing with these premium NFTs, these players can usually earn much more than if they played as normal free-to-play characters. Then, the guild will just take a share of the earnings, so it’s a win-win for both parties.
About the Guild Accelerator Program
The new guild accelerator program will identify, mentor and invest up to $500,000 in each early-stage guild accepted into the program.
Business mentorship is also part of the package. The partners have assembled an all-star line-up to groom potential unicorns and generational businesses. Mentors, experts and supporters from the networks of Animoca Brands and Brinc include the founder of Avocado Guild, Brendan Wong. Saruboti Sasuke (head of partnerships for YGG) and Howard Xu (co-founder of the Vietnam-based guild Ancient8) are also participating.
At its core, the initiative aims to enable millions of people worldwide to generate income by participating in P2E gaming via crypto gaming guilds. As for the requirements, the admissions team will prioritize guilds committed to sustainability. For example, projects that support and give back to player or scholar communities. Guilds that emphasize energy-efficient proof-of-stake protocols and have lower overall physical footprints will also have an edge.
Richard Robinson, entrepreneur-in-residence at Animoca Brands, is leading the program. To optimize each guild’s performance and help scale growth, a 360 immersion will be in place. So recipients of the capital will receive notes about management and operational systems and best-in-class learnings from world-class mentors. The ultimate goal is to expand each platform’s user base and assets. Then, help them raise funds beyond the startup phase.
Why Join?
Yat Siu, the co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, is confident that the play-to-earn guilds space has enormous growth potential. He said, “The management of digital assets in games and in the open metaverse represents a significant source of income for hundreds of millions of people.” For him, this is a clear sign that we are entering a new era of work and play.
The Guild Accelerator Program will operate as a dedicated track within Launchpad Luna. It is the accelerator launched in mid-2021 as a partnership between Brinc and Animoca Brands. So if you think your project has what it takes, then submit your online applications now to Brinc’s website. You have until February 27 and the first cohort is scheduled to start in May.
