About the Gundam Metaverse

The Gundam metaverse is focused on incorporating games, videos, live music, and other Gundam related content in one virtual world. This includes physical stores such as gaming arcades and their popular Gunpla plastic model shops.

Through this project, Bandai Namco wishes to establish communities among Gundam fans. They also wish to build deep and lasting connections with a strong focus on enhancing the quality of those connections to their fans.

“The “Gundam Metaverse” will be a mechanism for us to be more connected with fans. It will become possible to connect intellectual property-specific metaverses in the future.”

– Bandai Namco President, Masaru Kawaguchi

Going Virtual

Bandai Namco is one of the latest to turn to virtual platforms to increase its revenue as more consumers seek remote ways for their purchases. Disney, Epic Games, Microsoft, Facebook, and Square Enix are among the major firms and brands scrambling to get in on the metaverse.

About “Mobile Suit Gundam”

“Mobile Suit Gundam” is a 1979 mecha anime series created and directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino. Set in a futuristic timeline, it tells the story of the “Principality of Zeon” who seeks independence from the “Earth Federation Forces.” Student civilian Amuro Ray becomes the pilot of the titular “Gundam” and joins the Earth Forces to fight against Zeon’s rebellion.

“Mobile Suit Gundam” differs from other mecha anime of its time because it portrayed what real war was like and how it impacts the people caught in it.

The franchise has since branched off to many different series, universes, and timelines.
