Developers behind Ninjalerts — a component of the “Pizza Ninjas” PFP NFT project — recently achieved a groundbreaking feat, inscribing the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) emulator onto the Bitcoin blockchain.
For those none the wiser, an SNES emulator is software that allows one computer system to mirror another, enabling users to play classic Nintendo games on a platform it was not initially designed for — in this case, on Bitcoin.
To present the inner workings, intricate details, and sheer genius that underpins this innovative endeavor, a brand-new GitBook spanning 88 pages has been unfurled.

Innovating PFP Ordinals for Gameplay and More
The main aim of this intriguing initiative is to empower users to enjoy browser-based gaming through Ordinals marketplaces and explorers, all while contributing to the preservation of classic video games.
According to the Video Game History Foundation, 87% of classic games are “critically endangered”, making this project a crucial step in safeguarding gaming heritage for future generations.
Dubbed “Art as an Application” or, more fittingly, “PFP as an Application”, this endeavor aims to harness the unique capabilities of Bitcoin Ordinals, setting the digital assets apart from Ethereum-based ones.
Giving Ordinals a competitive edge over Ethereum NFTs includes Bitcoin PFP assets no longer presenting just a static image but an entire JavaScript application instead. Users can now access various features on the digital asset, including dynamic resizing, custom animations, 1-click social stickers, and, of course, most surpassingly, SNES games.
As Bitcoin evolves, initiatives like this pioneer innovative applications that blend art and functionality, pushing the boundaries of what’s achievable on blockchain networks.
