Moonray Gives Away 220K NFTs, Sets OpenSea Record

Ethereum-based combat arena game Moonray distributed 220,629 free NFTs during a 48-hour event, setting a record for the largest gaming NFT mint on OpenSea.

The mint, held from November 19 to 21, offered “Jadeon Adam” character skins to players through Coinbase’s Ethereum layer-2 network Base.

These NFTs are exclusively usable in the PC version of the game.

Largest Gaming NFT Mint on OpenSea

Moonray initially began as a Bitcoin-based game on the Stacks network but transitioned to Ethereum to enable NFT distribution on platforms like OpenSea.

The event allowed players to claim a green in-game skin designed for Moonray’s combat arena gameplay. By using the Base network, the mint ensured fast and cost-effective distribution, making it accessible to a large number of participants.

“The team is ecstatic by the reception in our community and all the players that showed up and minted this limited edition collection,” said Hans Andersson, founder and CBO of Moonray.

Whilst Moonray plans to release on PlayStation 5 in 2025, the blockchain features, including the NFT skins, will remain exclusive to the PC version due to restrictions on cryptocurrency and NFT use on Sony’s platform.
