Wolf Game Has The Most Argumentative NFT Influencer Obsessed With It

For better or worse, Wolf Game just got a full-hearted seal of approval from controversial NFT influencer, Beanie.

Beanie recently tweeted that he’s “become obsessed with Wolf Game”. He then went on to praise its mechanics and predicted a big future for the play-to-earn blockchain game. So what exactly has him so in love with it?

Beanie Calls Wolf Game a “First World Version’ Of Axie Infinity

For those who haven’t heard of Wolf Game, it’s a blockchain game with play-to-earn features. Or, to put it in the words from the game’s website, it is “a risk protocol for NFTs with novel tokenomics”.

The gameplay is fairly simple. The important NFTs in the game are “sheep” and “wolves”. There is a set amount of sheep NFTs, and those sheep produce $WOOL. To clarify, $WOOL is the in-game token.

In Wolf Game, players earn $WOOL by “shearing” their sheep, or by owning wolves which can steal $WOOL. The interesting risk factor comes in how people decide to use their sheep.

Players have two options. Firstly, they can stake their sheep in the “barn”. This carries no risk to the player. However, wolves get an automatic 20% of all $WOOL that comes from sheep in the barn.

If players want to avoid the tax, they can unstake their sheep by taking them out of the barn and shearing them. Owners of unstaked sheep don’t have to pay the $WOOL tax, but unstaking sheep puts them at risk to wolves.

To explain, wolf NFTs can steal 50% of a player’s accumulated $WOOL. That $WOOL is then split between staked wolves in the barn.

Will Beanie’s Prediction Come True?

This game theory aspect is what Beanie specifically loves. He says in his tweet that, the 8-bit play-to-earn game, “delivers [game theory] in a way that’s easy to understand and doesn’t require 8 hours of my day like Axies”.

Significantly he compares Wolf Game favorably to the very popular play-to-earn game, Axie Infinity. Of course, as is common with Beanie, reactions were split. Some echoed his thoughts on the game’s potential, while others ridiculed his take.

Nevertheless, Wolf Game has had a lot of success so far, with its cheapest sheep NFTs currently sitting around 0.5 ETH on Opensea. As for if it will become the “first world version” of Axie Infinity, we’ll just have to wait and see.
