Ready Player DAO + Aavegotchi team join forces to take on P2E games

Ready Player DAO lately announced a partnership with Pixelcraft Studios, the producers of the crypto collectible game, Aavegotchi.

Ready Player DAO have partnered with Aavegotchi to enhance the overall development in play-to-earn games.

About Ready Player DAO

Ready Player DAO is a Decentralized Autonomous Organisation. They hope to play a big part in developing the powers of play-to-earn gaming. Which has massively risen in popularity in parallel with the growth of NFTs. Ready Player has set out to do this by forming more equality between developers and end consumers. Notably, they have invested 50 ETH (currently around $205,000 USD) into Aavegotchi wearables, REALMs and a parcel inside the Citaadel. In addition to this, they hope to put a team formed of their scholars into immersing themselves in playing the game, in the Gotchiverse. The partnership will also create an exclusive experience on their partner parcel that will challenge players and offer them unique prizes in the form of tokens.

About PixelCraft Studios/Aavegotchi

Aavegotchis are DeFi-Staked Crypto Collectibles developed by Singapore-based Pixelcraft Studios. They are pixel-art ghosts on the Ethereum blockchain, using the ERC-721 standard. Another key point is that value of each NFT is based on a rarity level, which depends on varying factors. Actually, AavegotchiDAO manages the project and all funds through the GHST utility token. They aim to be a true DeFi project. Moreover, they are actually extremely popular, with 72k followers on Twitter 18k Discord members. Incredibly, a single Aavegotchi ghost once went for  141 ETH, or around $538,000.

The Metaverse’s Comparison to Ready Player One

There is a clear similarity in the name of Ready Player DAO to the hit movie, Ready Player One. Please note, they are not related nor do they work together in any way. However, it makes sense now to discuss the comparisons we see from the movie to the metaverses that are building in front of our eyes.

The movie is based around the main character, Parzival (or Wade Watts in real life), who is a late-teens boy who is deep into ‘The Oasis’, alongside the rest of the world. So much so that the real world is destroyed and filled with waste. The Oasis is a virtual reality metaverse that allows users to be what they want to be and do what they want to do. It includes mini-games, their own homes, and many more things. The main idea of the movie is that Parzival and his group of friends aim to get to an Easter Egg in the game. It will allow them to take over the company.

There are clear comparisons to metaverses we see building today from Decentraland and The Sandbox, as well as Aavegotchi. Many people have questioned whether Decentraland has the potential to become something as big as The Oasis was in Ready Player One. One Reddit user answered the question. They said: “I think we’re still years away from that level of immersion, but potentially, yes.”
