NFT Game Splinterlands Officially Passes 1 Billion Battles

Splinterlands, one of the biggest play-to-earn NFT games, has announced a remarkable checkpoint. As of yesterday, the NFT-based card game officially hit one billion battles played. The benchmark is a testament to the increasing popularity of the game and marks Splinterlands as one of the very top NFT games out there.

1 Billion battle benchmark a sign of Splinterlands’ popularity

Splinterlands says that it hit the impressive number on Jan. 25th. Indeed the fact that Splinterlands’ players have logged one billion battles is a big accomplishment for a play-to-earn (P2E) NFT game. As a matter of fact, DappRadar ranks Splinterlands as the top blockchain game. A ranking Splinterlands states it has held for six months straight.

To sum up, Splinterlands is a blockchain card game centering around NFT monsters. In the game, players can buy, sell, trade, rent and battle each other with their Splinterlands NFTs.

What’s more, the P2E features allow players to earn daily rewards. To clarify, players can win NFT collectible cards, card packs, and magic potions from their gameplay. In addition, they can earn Dark Energy Crystals – Splinterlands’ in-game currency.

Players can spend Dark Energy Crystals in the Splinterlands shop. Not to mention that they can also exchange their Dark Energy Crystals on several DEXs (decentralized exchanges).

Splinterlands starts 2022 with a bang

This latest Splinterlands news follows a run of major announcements for the NFT game. For example, just a couple of days ago Splinterlands and TerraBlock made their partnership public. In essence, this allows Splinterlands players to transfer their tokens across multiple blockchains.

Last week we reported on the highly anticipated general sale of Splinterlands’ Chaos Legion pack of NFT cards. Amazingly, Splinterlands sold over 6 million packs in under 24 hours when the sale started.

Without a doubt, more upcoming P2E NFT games will be looking to recreate Splinterlands’ success. The CEO & co-Founder of Splinterlands, Jesse “Aggroed” Reich, shared his excitement about the milestone saying,

This is a historic moment in gaming history and I’m so proud that Splinterlands is trailblazing in play-to-earn.”

The P2E NFT game cements its position atop blockchain games

The road to Splinterlands becoming a top NFT game is a bit longer than some of the overnight rockets we’ve seen in the NFT space over the last 12 months. In fact, the game launched back in 2018 as “Steem Monsters”. It wasn’t until April 2019 that it officially became Splinterlands.

To be sure, this isn’t the first time that Splinterlands players have put up gaudy numbers. For example, back in October 2021, the NFT game topped 500,000 active users in a single week. Splinterlands now boasts a consistent 400,000 active users. To say nothing of the 4 million transactions that happen in the game every day.

All things considered, the blockchain/NFT gaming space is growing tremendously. And it looks like there will be many more big milestones for the industry throughout 2022.
